ABOUT THE SHOW

Step into the provocative world of youth and rebellion at the iconic Che Café on the UCSD campus, where audiences will navigate 9 original performances that converge in an immersive experience celebrating student organizing and protest. This world premiere features a combination of fearless dancers, new plays that dissect old systems, and short musicals with anthems for the next generation's counter-culture. Against the backdrop of the Che Café, this electrifying event challenges norms, sparks revolutionary conversations, and dives deep into the spirit of defiance.

With nine unique performances to choose from, each visit promises a kaleidoscope of experiences, seamlessly blending musicals, mesmerizing dance pieces, and emotionally charged plays. iykyk 

thematically explores choice, and the execution represents that. Will you choose the allure of a captivating musical, the graceful movements of a spellbinding dance, or the thought-provoking narrative of a poignant play? The power is in your hands. The magic lies in the ability to revisit the Che Café time and again, as each selection guarantees a completely different journey. Sunday, April 7th: 1:00pm, 3:30pm

Please be aware there is a 30 minute pre-show with activities and live music. We encourage audience members to arrive early. Latecomers may not be allowed in.

Parking is available in the various parking lots on UCSD's campus. Parking is limited and we suggest using a rideshare.

FREquently asked questions

How does this work? 

Audience members will gather at the front entrance to the Che Cafe, and will be semi-guided through three different performances in different locations in the Che before gathering in the courtyard at the end. Audience members will also receive a menu with a list of plays and performances.

How will I know what to do or where to go?

Upon following the map to UCSD's campus and parking, you will be guided by signage and personnel. 

Is this show child-friendly? 

This show is written by and features college voices and may contain mature themes. We do not recommend children under 13 attend.

Are the performers going to interact with me?

Generally, this production is not designed to be heavily interactive. However, some short scenes may require audience interaction for their success. This being said, the performers will not intentionally touch you. 

What should I wear?

Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and clothing because audience members will be moving and may be asked to stand for some pieces. We encourage you to check the weather prior to, and dress prepared to be outdoors. 

How long is the show?

The show is approximately 1 hour long with no intermission. 

Is this a La Jolla Playhouse production?

The show is being presented by La Jolla Playhouse for the 2024 Without Walls Festival.
