ABOUT THE SHOW
Karaoke Dreams is a new musical set in a hazy, dive bar where the lights are low, the drinks are strong, and the mic is always hot. It's karaoke night - the great equalizer - and the usual crowd is here: hopefuls, heartbreakers, and has-beens. Friends, family, and strangers-turned-confidants gather in celebration or escape and everyone has a song. As the night unfolds through a 70-song queue spanning decades and genres, voices rise and secrets slip out.
In this immersive, heartfelt new musical, every regular, newcomer, and wannabe rockstar has a secret, a song, and something to prove. As the drinks get stronger and the bass gets louder, past and present collide to reveal the heartbreaks, hopes, and confessions hiding behind the music. A funny, raw, and unexpectedly moving celebration of connection, community, and the catharsis of singing your truth, Karaoke Dreams reminds us that the right song at the right time can change everything.
Karaoke Dreams is presented in partnership with ArtPower at UC San Diego.
